According to reports, Facebook has partnered with Ray-Ban for AR Glasses.
Facebook is currently developing Augmented Reality Glasses. The social media behemoth has teamed up with Ray-parent Ban's business, Luxottica, to make this a reality as early as 2023.
According to a CNBC article, these spectacles are not meant to be used with cellphones. Instead, they are designed to be a replacement for your smartphone. The spectacles are believed to be capable of answering phone calls. According to reports, all information would be displayed to consumers on a tiny display.
Furthermore, as a social media-focused brand, Facebook will provide the option for consumers to live-stream directly from the glasses. This allows for a smooth live streaming experience without the need to awkwardly hold a smartphone to broadcast the moment.
The article also suggests that the Silicon Valley behemoth may use its own voice assistant for voice input instructions for these new spectacles rather than offering compatibility for tried-and-true competitors like Google Assistant or Alexa.
According to The Information, Facebook is collaborating with Ray-Ban on a project called Stella. Regardless matter the codename, if these AR glasses are successfully implemented, they will compete with Snapchat Spectacles.
According to the sources, Mark Zuckerberg is also interested in these AR glasses and has instructed Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's hardware head, to expedite their development.
Consumers should be able to get their hands on these revolutionary AR spectacles by 2023. However, according to CNBC sources, this might be delayed until 2025. So, what are your thoughts on Facebook AR Glasses? Will you consider purchasing one in the future? Tell us in the comments.
