The Asus ROG Phone 5s Series with Snapdragon 888+ SoCs and 360Hz Touch Response Rate has been released.
Following the release of the ROG Phone 5 series earlier this year, Asus has today released updated versions of prior models. The ROG Phone 5s series was released by the business to replace the basic ROG Phone 5 and the higher-end ROG Phone 5 Pro/ Ultimate. Even though there aren't many differences, both smartphones provide a few major improvements over their predecessors.
So, before we get into the price, availability, and color variants of the ROG Phone 5s series, let's have a look at the devices' major stats and features.
ROG 5s Series Has Been Released
Except for the improved CPUs, new screen refresh rate, and touch response rate options, the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro have comparable characteristics.
As you might expect, the ROG Phone 5s has the same 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display on the front that supports up to 144Hz refresh rate. However, unlike the previous ROG Phone 5's adaptive refresh rate, which allowed users to adjust the screen refresh rate to 60Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz, the ROG Phone 5s adds a new 90Hz refresh rate choice to the mix. Furthermore, the new gadget increases the touch response rate from 300Hz to 360Hz.
The ROG Phone 5s series is powered by the Snapdragon 888+ SoC, as opposed to the predecessors' underclocked, vanilla Snapdragon 888 processor. The Snapdragon 888+ is basically an overclocked variant of the Snapdragon 888 chipset, with its main core clocking at up to 2.99GHz as opposed to the latter's lower 2.84GHz. As a result, customers should anticipate the ROG Phone 5s devices to function better than prior versions.
Furthermore, unlike the limited edition ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, the ROG Phone 5s Pro will be mass-produced for users. It has a color-enabled “ROG Vision” PMOLED display on the back, which mirrors the display on the ROG Phone 5 Pro. To complement its overall appearance, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has a monochrome panel on the back.
Furthermore, the ROG Phone 5s Pro has two additional touch sensors on the rear, which are also found on the ROG Phone 5 Pro and Ultimate versions.
The ROG Phone 5s, like its predecessor, lacks the ROG Vision display on the back. Instead, it features the same RGB-based ROG logo as the ROG Phone 5. Furthermore, it lacks the two extra touch sensors at the rear that its elder sister has.
Aside from that, the ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro have the same hardware and software characteristics as their predecessors. At the rear, there is a triple camera arrangement with a primary 64MP lens, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro lens. In the front, there is a 24MP selfie camera.
The gadgets also have the same 6,000mAH huge battery inside, as well as 65W rapid charging capability. There are also stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone connection, as well as compatibility for 5G networks operating at sub-6GHz. There are software features such as the Armoury Crate App, the Game Genie overlay, the AudioWizard app, and others to enhance the gaming experience. Both devices, like their predecessors, come with the Android 11-based ROG UI out of the box.
Price, color options, and availability are all available.
When it comes to the color variants of the ROG Phone 5s series, the basic ROG Phone 5s is available in two colors: Phantom Black and Storm White. The ROG Phone 5s Pro, on the other hand, is exclusively available in Phantom Black.
As of yet, Asus has only revealed pricing for the Taiwanese and mainland Chinese markets. The costs for both devices are listed below.
- Asus ROG Phone 5s (16GB + 256GB) - NT$ 29,990 (Rs 79,900)
- Asus ROG Phone 5s (18GB + 512GB) - NT$ 33,990 (Rs 90,580)
- ROG Phone 5s Pro (32GB + 512GB) - NT$ 37,990 (Rs 1,01,230).
Although there is no word on whether Asus would bring the gadgets to other countries like India, Europe, or the United States. I'll keep you updated if the firm makes an announcement about it in the future.
