Samsung's wildly popular Galaxy Note series might be on its way out.

While Samsung continues to grow and enhance its foldable smartphone portfolio, fresh rumors claim that the popular Galaxy Note series may be phased out very soon. If you've been keeping up with prior stories, you'll know that this isn't something we didn't previously know. This time, though, we have some type of official confirmation. This year, Samsung did not renew the Galaxy Note trademark. As a result, the Galaxy Note range may be phased out altogether in the future.

The information comes from GalaxyClub (via Sammobile) and is based on Samsung's most recent trademarks list. The firm renewed the trademarks for the Galaxy M, Galaxy A, Galaxy S, and Galaxy Z series, according to the article. The Galaxy Note series, however, was not included on the list.

For those who are unaware, Samsung has been rumored to be retiring the Galaxy Note range since late last year. In fact, Samsung CEO Koh Dong-Jin announced earlier this year that the Galaxy Note 21 series will not be released this year. Samsung has decided to forgo the Note series in 2021 due to a global chip scarcity. It's worth noting, however, that the CEO also stated that the Korean company will release Galaxy Note smartphones in 2022.

Now that Samsung has decided not to refresh the Galaxy Note series as we approach the new year, the firm may abandon the line completely in the future. This might be to focus on and promote Samsung's foldable devices, which the company is trying to enhance each year.

Samsung has included S-Pen functionality in this year's Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable and Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is a defining feature of the Galaxy Note series. As a result, it's reasonable to believe that Samsung wants Note customers to migrate to its foldable smartphones (or the obscenely costly S-series Ultra variant) for a better user experience. As a result, demand for Samsung's Galaxy Fold devices will rise, as will market acceptance of foldable smartphones.
